Who we are

RH

+ Richard Hobden

BSc (Hons) Dip Arch ARB RIBA
Architect / Director

Richard’s passion has always been contemporary architecture and he believes beauty is most definitely in the detail. He passionately believes that every project is an opportunity to provide a unique modern solution that enriches its environment. Engaging directly with clients, seizing upon an idea, and developing well considered, striking proposals that reach beyond the norm is where the fun lies for him.

Prior to establishing RHJB Architects, Richard worked predominantly in the southeast of England. Whilst working at an award-winning Architects, he worked across numerous architectural sectors including Residential, Commercial, Retail, Education, and Leisure, leading projects with values ranging from £250,000 – £80million.

When he’s not in the studio, Richard takes on a few challenges each year to raise money for Noah’s Big Charity, a charity incredibly close to his heart of which his wife and he are Trustees. For the charity, as well as his sanity, he runs, swims and on occasion cycles.

JB

+ Jonathan Butler

BArch (Hons) Dip Arch ARB RIBA
Architect / Director

Jonathan studied at both The University of Nottingham and The University of Greenwich, before qualifying as a Chartered Member of the RIBA. As a senior project architect in private practice across the southeast of England for over 15 years, he has established a wide portfolio based on contemporary design solutions.

Having an array of experience across a broad spectrum of commissions up to several million in value, Jonathan’s particular specialisms are high end residential work, planning negotiation, works to listed buildings, together with Contract Management and negotiation. A contemporary approach has always formed the basis of his portfolio – “why imitate what has gone before when you can look forward and create something appropriate for now and the future?” is his mantra. Being a hands-on chap; you’ll always find him with a pencil, sketching ideas at any opportunity. He loves working closely with our clients, from “the ground up” exploring exactly what they want, to deliver striking, exciting, buildable proposals.

When he’s not drawing, he’s usually to be found struggling up a hill or two on his treasured bike, or training for another event, often in support of Noah’s Big Charity.
